Hello fellow colleagues!

(N)ational (E)ducation (T)echnology (S)tandards for (T)eachers is a model for educators to implement new learning experiences for students to enrich their knowledge through technology. Throughout the years technology has become a fundamental element in school settings. Tests, readings, and homework are now being done online instead of the old fashioned way which consisted of paper and pencil. Technology is evolving and it is important for educators to implement NETS-S in their classroom to allow their students the ability to gain skills that can be carried on in their further education. NETS-S consist of five different standards:
1.) Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.
2. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments.
3.) Model digital age work and learning.
4.) Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility.
5. Engage in professional growth and leadership.

The standard that is relatable to the skills that I obtain is "Model digital age work and learning." It allows teachers to use their experiences in technology and skills they have gained in their classroom setting. As I mentioned earlier since technology is being used fairly frequently in classrooms, students must learn the basic skills. I have been using technology since the sixth grade, from taking a typing class, to developing video clips in classroom settings. I have worked and currently working in a place where technology is always being incorporated. I have taught individuals how to set up an email account and how to send documents to other individuals, which I will be able to demonstrate to my future students. I am very familiar with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word which is essential in a students career. We as educators need to be the influence in our students education and further their knowledge by giving them the skills we posses.  As a future educator not will I only influence students but as well as the parents. I would like to have a class where I demonstrate parents how technology is used so they can be effective in helping their children improve their technology skills.

Still trying to figure out what the third standard is in NETS-S?
Here are some helpful resources!

This website is very informative, it gives you the objective of the standard. Not only that, it gives you a description of the standard! This is a tool that educators can use, which provides activities that can be used in class. It gives you a project for EVERY element of the standard: views of current use of technology, how to demonstrate fluency in technology, evaluate websites, how to collaborate with students, peer, parents and community.

This website helps educators enhance their students technology skills. The website consists of projects that educators themselves have used it in their classroom. These educators give you a detail description of the project, what they did, the outcome and feedback of what works effectively. A variety of these projects also present video clips to demonstrate a visual perspective of how the project is ran. So if your an educator who needs ideas on how to model digital age work and learning, this is right for you!
